Support

There are many ways to get support for your learning in EDCI 336:

Education Lab Tech Support

We have two full-time staff, who are available for technical help. They are open during regular office hours. The cell phone number on the office door can be used to contact them for help should they be mobile within the building.

Instructor Help

Your instructors are available to help and can be contacted via private message on social media, calls or text, audio/video calls on Skype/Google Hangout/Blue Jeans Network/etc., or you make an appointment to come and see them for help. We prefer live conversations (phone, audio/video chats) over long emails. Please know that we are very approachable and are here to support you!

Rich McCue – Digital Scholarship Commons Coordinator

Rich supports our classes with educational technology and emerging technologies  expertise from his role in the Digital Scholarship Commons in the UVic Library. You can access his web resources here.

Help Desk

The computer help desk is open to all UVic students for technical help. Note: they will not be available to help with some specific tools, such as Trello, Diigo, etc. as they are not supported at UVic. They can help you, however, with WordPress, or other technical issues with your computer.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-7pm (closed statutory holidays)

Learning Pod

Be sure to work together with any group members or other classmates to help one another with the learning process. Identify one specific “learning partner” whom you can work with and turn to with questions along the way. They can also be your reader for your blog. You will also be encouraged to find a mentor to join you and your partner for conversations. This could be an EDCI 336 alumnus or a practicing teacher or both.
